Catholic Archbishop raises alarm over large presence of herders in South East
Mindful of the security of the people in the Southeast, the Archbishop of Owerri Catholic Ecclesiastic Province, Dr. Anthony J. V. Obinna, has moved toward the governors of the geo-political zone and Igbo pioneers to live up to individuals’ high desires of guaranteeing the directed considering the upsurge of the amount of herders in the district, who as far as anyone knows speak to a threats, with their dairy cows crushing yields in the farmlands.
In a declaration gave in Owerri and made available to The Guardian, yesterday, the clergyman noted: “Not content with squashing us in an unbalanced war, there is this threat to get out the Igbos and accept authority over our common homes and grounds.”
He said he had spoken with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma on the perils and called for action and redesigned security, including: “I in this manner straightforwardly charge him to see that it is his fundamental commitment as the Chief Security Officer of the state to guarantee the lives of Imo people, their homes and their regions.
“Your Excellency, your voice should be uproarious and clear on this life and passing issue.
“I also charge other Igbo governors and all Igbo heads at various levels to guarantee our family, our homes and our domains. I empower all of our family to climb in petition to God, in watchfulness and veritable self-insurance. The benefit to life, to our homes and our properties is common.”
